From data to action
Research is only as good as what it reveals and the knowledge gained. We strongly believe that providing pure data is not enough. Through the 'So What' test we apply our consultancy skills to analysis and work with each client to apply the findings to their situation. |
Establish Context
We work with our clients to: |
Gain understanding of the background to the project |
Clarify the purpose |
Understand the parameters |
Assess the culture |
Establish key stakeholders |
Select & Design Research Methods
We evaluate which primary and secondary research methods will most effectively combine to meet the brief and objectives. We then define the key data points. Each data point represents a key facet of information which in combination will inform the research purpose.
Primary research includes our action research sets that we term 'research whilst doing'. We also conduct structured interviews, participant observation and investigative focus groups for smaller numbers. For larger audiences we design questionnaires and conduct surveys. Structured or functional benchmarking exercises can also be used to review internal processes or conduct competitor analysis. |
Secondary research includes desk research, literature review of published reports, articles and company/market intelligence as well as analysis of internal company data, procedures, processes and policies. |
Undertake Research
Research is undertaken with a representative sample of the total population. If appropriate research methods are piloted. All research is conducted in adherence with our Research Code of Conduct
Analysis & Validation
Our research is analysed and evidence evaluated using numerical, thematic and coding techniques. At times this may highlight conflicting evidence which will require further investigation before decisive action can be taken. At this stage we also identify key trends and insights and formulate initial comment, recommendations and conclusions. |
Create Research Output
The final research output(s) are produced in a format which is tailored to the client’s specification so that it can be directly implemented. |
Review & Evaluate
Our project review and evaluation process includes both individual and team review which is carried out at key milestones during the project and upon project completion. Skills transfer to our clients is often a key prerequisite so effective evidence gathering, assessment of new knowledge and skill creation is an important part of the review process. We build long lasting relationships with our clients. We work with them to apply the results of our research and support their individual, team and organisational growth and development. Our understanding of the context that they work within means we can act as additional resource to the team if appropriate. |
